Abstract

This research is written by Maria Batu (31115017) who is one of the Economic Development Program student in the guidance of Mr. Marius Masri, SE, M.Si as the first mentor and Bpk Adrianus Ketmoen, SE,M.M as the second mentor. The title of this research, “Analysis of determination of leading comparative commodities in the agricultural sector. The intents of this research are: 1) To find out what are the leading commodities of Regency/City agriculture sub-sector in the East Nusa Tenggara Province in 2012-2016. 2) To find out what are the leading commodities changes in the structure of Regency/City agricultural sub-sector in East Nusa Tenggara Province in 2015-2016. The method used in this research is Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift Share analysis. The data used include agricultural production of Regency/City in 2012-2016 and agricultural production of East Nusa Tenggara Province. The result of the study have shown that agricultural commodities which are the leading commodities are: The result of the study have shownthat agricultural commodities which are the leading commodities are: a)West Sumba Barat Regency: areca peanut (LQ 3.91) and buffalo (LQ 5.92). b)East Sumba Regency: horse (LQ 5.94) and squid (LQ 12.19). c) Kupang Regency: cottonwood (LQ 8.36) and shrimp (LQ 13.39). d) South Central Timor Regency: candlenut (3.65) and cow (LQ 2.47). e)North Central Timor Regency: cow (LQ 5.48) and yellow tail fish (LQ 7.08). f)Belu Regency: garlic (9.17) and cow (1.83). g)Alor Regency: paddy fields ( LQ 2.34) and vanilla (LQ 3.75). h)Lembata Regency: ducks (LQ 3.75) and grouper fish (LQ 2.76). i)East Flores Regency: paddy fields (LQ 3.24) and cashew nut (LQ 1.87). j)Sikka Regency: large/small chili (LQ 9.38) and cacao nibs (LQ 3.50). k)Ende Regency: candlenut (LQ 1.54) and squid (LQ 13.50). l)Ngada Regency: soybean (LQ 7.50) and vanilla ( LQ 5.79). m) Manggarai Regency: soybean (LQ 3.52) and cloves (LQ 4.68). n)Rote Ndao Regency: shallots (LQ 11.75) and squid (LQ 11.41). o)West Manggarai Regency: wet rice field (LQ 2.46), cloves (LQ 3.81), and buffalo (LQ 9.43). p)Southwest Sumba Regency : areca nut ( LQ 4.42), horse (LQ 3.13), and buffalo (13.47). q)Central Sumba Regency: areca nut (LQ 4.42), horse (LQ 3.13), and buffalo (LQ 13.74). r)Nagekeo Regency: wet rice field (LQ 1.78) and cloves (LQ 2.09). s)East Manggarai Regency : wet rice field (LQ 2.26), cloves (LQ 2.09). t)Sabu Raijua Regency: green beans (LQ 26.47) and shallots (LQ 45.28). u)Kupang City : broiler (LQ 15.74) and perch (LQ 4.51). Based on the calculation of Shift Share analysis, the highest total number of Dij is Alor Regency 26,432,931.69, Sikka Regency 25,894,887.70, East Sumba Regency 20,095,622.28, City Kupang 14,920,510.96, and Manggarai Regency 14,731,961.41. With the average positive value of the food, estate, and fisheries sub-sectors the most positive value while horticulture and livestock are negative. So that it can be said that there has been a shift from the Horticulture, livestock sub-sector to the food corps, estate corps, and fisheries sub-sector.
