Abstract
Mathematic learning process need communication ability. The communication is communication when expressing math language, such as symbol, graph, and algebra. So it make students become easy to solve a problem that given by teacher. Based on explanation the researcher do the study about student’s mathematical communication ability in charging math text to math model. The purpose of this study are describing mathematical communication ability in change menadi's story problem student mathematics model VIII class. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection of this study is the test, interview, and documentation. The test is followed by 28 students from class VIII A. The next is choosing 3 students for interview consist of 1 student’s high rank, 1 student’s medium rank, and 1 student’s low rank. The next step is analyzing data through data reduction, data presentation, and making conclusion. The result is the high rank showed that the students can use variable to represent their knowledge in math text, change the mathematic language to math model, and reflect the mathematic language in math text. The medium rank student’s mathematical communication ability showed that the students can use variable to ix represent their knowledge in math text, change the mathematic language to math model, and they can’t reflect the mathematic language in math text. The low rank student’s mathematical communication ability showed that the students can’t use variable to represent their knowledge in math text, can’t change the mathematic language to math model, and they can’t reflect the mathematic language in math text.
