Abstract

The type of this research is a qualitative research that has a purpose to describe the understanding about mathematic concept of junior high school students in problem posing about cubes and beams. The subjects are three 8th grade women students who has been chosen through selection of mathematic mid term exam report and based on a disccussion between the reasearcher and mathematics teacher. The data collected is the result data of problem posing task and concept understanding based on intensive interview and the indicators that consits of; translation, interpretation and extrapolation indicator. Analysis phase includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Moreover, in checking the validity of data by using time triangulation. After it has been explained and analyzed, it can be conclude that; (1) The students who have high capability are able to understand the submitting questions by fulfilling the three indicators above. (2) The students who have low capability just able to understand submitting questions of translation indicator.
