Abstract

Direct method is one of learning methods used to optimize students’ ’learning process regarding to declarative knowledge and procedural knowledge which is well organized and taught step by step. The main problem in this research is how the result of the application of direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in students grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016? The problems of this research, in detail, are: 1) How is the teacher’s ability in manage learning process by using direct method? 2) How is learning achievement indicator by using direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in student grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016? 3) How is students’ learning achievement by using direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in student grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016? 4) How is students’ respond toward by using direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in student grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016? The objective of this research is to describe the result of the application of direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in student grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016. The research objective, in detail, are: 1) To describe teacher’s ability in manage learning process by using direct method by using direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in student grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016. 2) To describe learning achievement indicator by using direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in student grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016. 3) To describe students’ learning achievement by using direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in student grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016. 4) To describe students’ respond toward by using direct method in teaching main subject Heat Tranfer in student grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016. The kind of this research is descriptive and the subjects are teacher (researcher) and student grade XF class school year 2015/2016 which is amounted to 32 students. The instruments using in this research are observation sheet of learning process by using direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer, the result of test (product and affective), and students’ answer sheet. Data collection techniques used were observation, test and questionnaire. The technique in analyzing data is by using descriptive and quantitative including mean calculation, percentage, and proportion. Based on the result of descriptive analyzing and working trough in general it can be said that the application of direct method in teaching main subject Heat Transfer in students grade XF class SMA Negeri 7 Kupang school year 2015/2016 is optimal.
