Abstract

This study is entitled “A STUDY ON THE VOCABULARY MASTERY OF THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPK ADISUCIPTO PENFUI KUPANG IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2017/2018”. This study was conducted to answer the following questions: 1 Have the seventh grade Students of SMPK Adisucipto Penfui Kupang mastered the use of Vocabulary in sentences? 2 What is the students’ level of vocabulary in sentences. Mastery the objectives of this study are: (1) vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade sutdents’ of SMPK Adisucipto Penfui Kupang in the school year 2017/2018 The normative survey method was used in this study, while the subjects of the study were 31 students of the seventh grade of SMPK Adisucipto Penfui Kupang. The instrument used was test. The vocabulary test was in the form of multiple choices. There were 40 test items. The result of the study showed that (1) the seventh grade students of SMPK Adisucipto Penfui Kupang in the School year 2017/2018 have mastered the use of the seventh grade students of SMPK Adisucipto Penfui Kupang in the School year 2017/2018. (2) the level of vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students of SMPK Adisucipto Penfui Kupang in the School year 2017/2018. not all of the seventh grade students of SMPK Adisucipto Penfui Kupang have mastered the use of vocabulary in sentences with the percentage of the correct answer was 2,375 % and the parcentage for wrong answer was 2,375 %. While the students level of mastery was “Below Average” (2,375%). Based on the result of the study the writer suggests that in order that the teacher at the researched school should give remedial teaching to the students, particularly regarding the vocabularies that have not been mastered by the students.
