Abstract

This study entitles “Compound Words In Lio Aku Language”. The topic is specified into two research questions: (1). What are the elements of compound words in Lio Aku language? (2) What are types of compound frequently appear in Lio Aku language? The objectives of the study are as follow: (1) To find out the elements of compound words in Lio Aku language (2) To find out the types of compound frequently appear in Lio Aku language. This research is qualitative research. The informants of this study are native speakers of Lio Aku language, of Wolondopo village in Ende Regency. The result of the research shows the following facts (1) there are 17 elements which form compound words. They are noun+ noun, noun+ verb, verb+ noun, noun+ adjective, adjective+ adjective, verb+ verb, verb+ preposition, preposition+ verb that form compound noun. The next are the elements which form compound verb. They are verb+ verb, verb+ noun, verb+ adjective, adjective+ verb, and preposition+ verb. At the last point is the elements which form compound adjective. They are adjective+ adjective, adjective+ verb, noun+ adjective and noun+noun (2) The most common type of compound frequently appear in Lio Aku language is headless compound specifically exocentric compound. It shows that 48 of 106 compound words, are exocentric compound. Based on the result of the study the writer would like suggest other researchers to discover more morphological process particularly in compound words of Lio Aku Language.
