Abstract

This study aims to know 1) the Pimary High School teachers’ perception on Pedagogical Competence, Social competence, Performance Evaluation, work ethics and performance; 2) the significance of effect of pedagogical competence, social competence and performance evaluation on the Primary High School teachers’ performance at Kupang Regency; 3) the significance of work ethics on the Primary High School teachers’ performance at Kupang Regency; 4) the significance of effect of pedagogical competence, social competence and performance evaluation on the Primary High School teachers’ work ethics at Kupang Regency; 5) the significance of effect of pedagogical competence, social competence and performance evaluation on the Primary High School teachers’ performance at Kupang Regency through work ethics as an intervening variable. This study is a descriptive quantitative research. The sample is 80 teachers at guided Primary High School, Kupang Regency. The data are collected by distributing a questionnaire and are analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistic applying Smart PLS 3.0. The results of descriptive statistic analysis indicate that the perception of Primary High School teachers on teachers’ performance is categorized as good (80.48%), work ethics is good (74.97%), pedagogical competence is good (82.78%), social competence is good (81.78%), and performance evaluation is also good (79.53%). The results of inferential statistic show that there is 1) a positive and significant effect of work ethics on teachers’ performance (0.359, sig. 0.004<0.05); 2) a positive and significant effect of pedagogical competence (0.557, sig. 0.000<0.05) on work ethics; 3) a positive and significant effect of pedagogical competence (0.412, sig. 0.000<0.05) on teachers’ performance; 4) a negative and insignificant effect of social competence (-0,015, sig. 0.893>0.05) on work ethics; 5) a positive and insignificant effect of social competence (0.094, sig. 0.202>0.05) on teachers’ performance; 6) a positive and significant effect of performance evaluation (0.304, sig. 0.004<0.05) on work ethics; 7) a positive and insignificant effect of performance evaluation (0.140, sig. 0.083>0.05) on teachers’ performance; 8) a negative and insignificant effect of social competence (-0.005, sig. 0.891>0.05) on teachers’ performance through work ethics as an intervening variable; 9) a positive and significant effect of pedagogical competence (0,200, sig. 0.001<0.05) on teachers’ performance through work ethics as an intervening variable; 10) a positive and significant effect of performance evaluation (0.109, sig. 0.028<0.05) on teachers’ performance. The pedagogical competence, social competence, performance evaluation contribute 62.7% on work ethics, while the rest of 37.3% is influenced by other variables excluded in this study. The pedagogical competence, social competence, performance evaluation contribute 80.3% on performance, while the rest of 19.7% is influenced by other variables excluded in this study. Based on these results, it is recommended to Primary High School teachers at Kupang Regency to enhance work ethics, social competence, pedagogical competence, and performance evaluation in order to raise teachers’ performance.
