Abstract
The ability of formal reasoning is part of the highest thinking ability, because the ability of formal reasoning has traits that have mastered the process – the cognition procces that has high stage and form of logical operations such as hypothesis thinking - deductive thinking using proportions and comparisons, reflective thinking, controlling variables and experimental, abstract thinking, using probabilistic principles, using combinatorial logic, syllogistic thinking, understand the allusion or allegory, and think proportionately. Verbal ability is the ability to explain ideas or the ability to associate various informations that obtained and make hypotheses. Verbal skills enable students to communicate orally and in writing. Learning is based on the problem is the model of learning where students work the autenthic problems with the intention to construct their own knowledge, developing thinking skills, problem solving, and intellectual skills, learning various adults roles through in their inclusion inreal experience or simulated, and become autonomous learnes and independent. The main problem in this research are: 1) How the effectives learning using the learning style based on the problem on the colloidal system material class XI IPA SMA Sudirman Kupang academic year 2015/2016? 2) How the formal reasoning ability and verbal ability of students of class XI Sudirman Kupang senior high school, academic year 2015/2016? 3) Is there has relationship formal reasoning and verbal skills to learning outcomes of students in the subject matter of colloidal systems using the learning model based on the problem class XI SMA Sudirman Kupang in the academic year 2015/2016? 4) is there any effects of formal reasoning ability and verbal ability for the result of learning students in the subject matter of colloidal systems using problem-based on the learning model in class XI IPA SMA Sudirman Kupang in academic year 2015/2016? The purpose of this study are1) to describe an effective learning using the learning model based on the problem in the subject matter of colloidal systems Class XI Science High School studentsin SMA Sudirman Kupang in academic year 2015/2016. 2) Describing the formal reasoning ability and verbal ability students of class XI SMA Sudirman Kupang academic year 2015/2016. 3) Knowing the relationship formal reasoning and verbal abilities towards learning the result of students in the subject matter of colloidal systems using problem-based learning model class XI IPA SMA Sudirman Kupang in academic year 2015/2016. 4) Determine whether there is influence the ability of formal reasoning and verbal abilities towards learning outcomes of students in the subject matter of colloidal systems using problem-based on the learning model in class XI IPA SMA Sudirman Kupang academic year 2015/2016. The sample in this study was the students of class XI IPA SMA Sudirman Kupang numbered 30 people. The types of descriptive and associative research. The conclusion of data analysis that: (1) The effectiveness of learning using the model of learning based on the (a) The ability of teachers to manage the implementation of learning including categories with a score of 3.47. (B) The completeness of Indicator learning outcome indicators covering four aspects: Indicators aspects spiritual attitude (KI-1) finished with 0.86. Indicators aspects of social attitudes (KI-2) finished with score 0.84. Indicators aspects of atitudde (KI-3) finished with score 0.91. Indicators aspect skill (KI-4) finished with score 0.84. (C) The completeness study results include: Mastery learning outcomes KI-1 amounted to 86%, mastery learning outcomes KI-2 by 84%, mastery learning outcomes KI-3 amounted to 86%, mastery learning outcomes KI-4 by 85% and the mean average overall mastery learning outcomes is 86%. (2) The criteria for the interpretation of formal reasoning skills to the learning outcomes are at the good level 68%. (3) The criteria for the interpretation of verbal to the learning outcomes are at a very good level of 66% (4) There have a significant relationship between formal reasoning ability and verbal ability of the student learning outcomes in which the value of the analysis rx1x2 = 0.42. (5) There have a significant relationship between formal reasoning ability and verbal ability of the student learning outcomes for the analysis of Y = a + b1x1 + b2X2 = 74.832 + 0,035X1 + 0,126x2 Given that formal reasoning ability and verbal ability greatly affect student learning the result is necessary to note well how formal reasoning abilities that are owned by the student and how someone is able to develop verbal skills. The learning model based on the result that very good for the result of learning for students, therefore this approach can be more often applied to learned on materials that will be teach by the teacher.
