Abstract

This study is entitled: “A Study on the Content Validity of English Test Items for The Eighth Grade Students of SMPK Salib Suci Kloangrotat - Sikka in the School Year 2015/2016”. This study is conducted to answer the following questions: Is the test made by the English teacher of SMPK Salib Suci Kloangrotat – Sikka valid and in what case it is not valid? The objective of this study is to know whether the test made by the English teacher of SMPK Slib Suci Kloangrotat - Sikka is valid or not and to identify in what case it is not valid. Subject of this study is the English teacher of SMPK Salib Suci Kloangrotat – Sikka. This study focuses on analysis of English test items in SMPK Salib Suci Kloangrotat – Sikka. The methods applied in this study were descriptive and qualitative method. The total test items were 30 test items. The result of this study shows that the summative test of eighth grade students met the criteria of content validity. After the writer analyzed the data, she found out that the summative test that made by the English teacher of SMPK Salib Suci Kloangrotat – Sikka has sufficient validity, because there are 21 test items or 70% that were prescribed by the syllabus and 9 test items or 30% were not. The writer expects that this research provides a meaningful feedback for the English teacher to design better summative test for the eighth grade students of SMPK Salib Suci Kloangrotat – Sikka. The writer also expects that this research provides a meaningful input for future researchers.
