Abstract
Research has been carried out on antioxidant activity and cytotoxic tests of ethanol and dicloromethane extracts from legaran (Alstonia spectabilis R.Br) plants. Legaran is a plant from the Apollocyaneae family that is used as a medicine for malaria, cancer, fever and back pain. The obective of the research was to determine the antioxidant and cytotoxic activity of legaran plant stem bark extract. Legaran bark powder extract extracted by maceration method using 95% ethanol and dichloromethane solvent. Result of maceration obtained extract has a yield weight of 13,17% and the result of positive phytochemical identification contain alkaloids, terpenoids, and tannins, meanwhile the dichloromethane extract has a yield weight of 2,07% and is positively contains alkaloids, terpenoids and saponins. Antioxidant testing using the DPPH method obtained IC50 values of 462,22 ppm and 194,14 ppm respectively and cytotoxic testing using the BSLT method obtained LC50 values of 146,15 ppm and 105, 22 ppm.
