Abstract

Thesis title: effectiveness of the use of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce sociall anxiety. The problems studied in this study are 1) Why can cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling be used to reduce students' social anxiety? 2) How is the process of using cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students' social anxiety? 3) Is the use of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling effective in reducing students' social anxiety? Based on these problems, the writing of this thesis aims to find out 1) The reasons for using cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduces tudents' social anxiety. 2) The process of using cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students' social anxiety. 3) Effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students' social anxiety. This type of research data is qualitative with the method of studying literature studies. The object of this studyis cognitive restructuring techniques, group counseling and student social anxiety. The study used secondary data sources. The results of the discussion are: 1) Cognitive restructuring techniques can be used to reduce students' social anxiety because in the implementation of cognitive restructuring techniques, students are helped to turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts. 2) The procedure for implementing cognitivere structuring techniques to reduce students' social anxiety is carried out through the stages of group counseling, namely the formation stage,the transition stage, the activity stage and the termination stage, at the activity stage applied cognitive restructuring techniques through the stages of rational, identification of the thoughts of the confectionery in problem situations, recognition and practice coping tought (CT), pidah from negative thoughts to coping tought (CT), introduction and exercises of positive boosters, homework and follow-up. 3) The effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce students' social anxiety is supported by articles on the results of Arfian research in 2020 and Rifaldi, etal. (2020). Based on the results of the study, researchers put forward suggestions to: 1) Guidance and Counseling Teachers can utilize the results of this study to help students reduce students' social anxiety using cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling. 2) Students can take advantage of the results of this study to reduce social anxiety experienced by participating in group counseling services implemented by Guidance and Counseling Teachers. 3) Researchers can utilize the results of this study to implement the researcher's knowledge of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce students' social anxiety.
