Abstract
Dug wells are one of the clean water facilities used by the people of Indonesia in general and the people of Kupang City in particular. But, dug wells have a high risk of contamination this is because they are easily contaminated by seepage of human waste, animal waste, and household or domestic waste septic tanks. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number. 32 of 2017 concerning the requirements for clean water quality standards with microbiological parameters, namely for the maximum level of Escherichia coli bacteria 0 colonies/100 ml. Escherichia coli is used as an indicator of water quality, because its presence in water indicates that the water is contaminated. This study aims to determine and obtain data on the distribution of Escherichia coli content in samples of well water owned by residents in Oesapa Kupang, as well as to determine the distance between the well and the septic tank at the research location for sampling well water owned by residents in Oesapa Kupang. The method used is observation/ direct observation of the physical construction of the well and the environment around the well and interviews. To obtain Escherichia coli data, testing was carried out using the petrifilm method. Sampling technique with purposive sampling technique. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, namely the data obtained from the research results are adjusted to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number. 32 of 2017 concerning the requirements for clean water quality standards. The results showed that in well water samples 1, 2 and 4 no Escherichia coli bacteria were found, while well water samples 3 and 5 found Escherichia coli bacteria. For measuring the distance from the well to the septic tank, well 1 : 7.2 m and well 2 : 6.8 m, well 3 : 15 m, well 4 : 10.3 m and well 5 : 18.8 m. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the water samples in wells 1, 2 and 4 meet the requirements because they do not contain Escherichia coli bacteria while wells 3 and 5 do not meet the requirements because they contain Escherichia coli bacteria and when viewed from the distance of the septic tank, wells 1 and 2 do not meet the requirements of SNI: 03-2398-2002, while wells 3, 4 and 5 meet the requirements of SNI: 03-2398-2002.
