Abstract

East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is a province in Indonesia which also has a rich culture and a variety of dances that are no less interesting than arts on the island of Java. The diversity of these dances comes from various regions in NTT such as the Kataga dance from West Sumba, the Caci dance from Manggarai, the Gawi dance from Ende, and many more. Each region has a characteristic dance movement, musical accompaniment and different singing accompaniment so that it becomes the identity of the region. The large number of dance enthusiasts in NTT can be seen from the communities of dancers who often take part in competitions held by the East Nusa Tenggara government. There are several issues raised in the writing of this final project paper. One of the things that is of concern is the issue of Global Warming which is causing changes in ecosystems on Earth. extreme climate change, melting of ice causing sea levels to rise, as well as changes in the amount and pattern of precipitation are the impacts of the effects of global warming which have a direct impact on life on Earth. Environmental activists demand that existing developments do not cause environmental damage. Therefore, the Planning and Design of the Kupang City Dance Academy uses an Architectural Ecology approach by incorporating natural and environmental elements to shape space and produce a fresher space and create harmony between humans and their environment. Through the background above, it is known that dance education in East Nusa Tenggara today has a vision of passing on the knowledge and meaning of a culture. For this reason, a forum for dance education and training is needed that can improve the quality of dance and maintain the originality of dance so that interested people can have opportunities to have a career in dance, especially in the city of Kupang.
