Abstract

The thesis entitled “Analysis of Employee Performance and Work Motivation as Moderating Variables in the Work Unit (UPT) Licensing and Supervision of Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ) Region I of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province”, written by Pius Saju NIM. 8112162025 MM, is supervised by Dr. Stanis Man, S.E., M.Si and Drs. Ec. Sabinus Hatul, MM.Work Unit (UPT) of Licensing and Supervision of LLAJ Region I is one of the 5 UPTs that is responsible to the Transportation Department of the East Nusa Tenggara Province. This UPT functions as a controller for the supervision and licensing of the LLAJ sector, especially on route transportation, non-route transportation, changes in the shape of cars, freight transportation and management of type B terminals. Based on data, not all targets were achieved in 2018. Of the 6 (six) activities, only 1 (one) activity that achieved the target (100%) which is the activity of Supervision & Data Collection of the Use of Heavy Vehicle Services in all task areas. The researchquestions of this study are: 1) What is the description of performance, work motivation, work environment and work satisfaction at the UPT of Licensing and Supervision of LLAJ Region I of East Nusa Tenggara Province?; 2) Do work motivation, work environment and job satisfaction significantly influence Employee Performance at UPT Licensing and Supervision of LLAJ Region I of East Nusa Tenggara Province?; 3) Do work environment and job satisfaction significantly influence work motivation of the employees at the UPT of Licensing and Supervision of LLAJ Region I in East Nusa Tenggara Province?.The results of descriptive statistical analysis revealed that the variables of performance, work motivation, work environment and job satisfaction in UPT LLAJ Region I of NTT Province were fairly good. The results of path analysis indicated that, work motivation (4,476; sig. 0.000), work environment (2,144; sig. 0.033) and job satisfaction (3,264; sig. 0.001) significantly influenced employee performance at UPT Licensing and Supervision of LLAJ Region I of NTT Province. In addition, the work environment (16,767; sig. 0.000) and job satisfaction (7,646; sig. 0.000) significantly influenced work motivation of the staff at UPT Licensing and Supervision of LLAJ Region I of NTTProvince. The results of the coefficient of determination (R2) revealed that the ability of work motivation, work environment and job satisfaction variables in explaining performance variables in this study was 89.1% and the ability of work environment and job satisfaction variables in explaining the work motivation variable in this study was 88 , 8%.Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the leader of UPT of Licensing and Supervision of LLAJ Region I of NTT Province should improve employee performance by improving work motivation, work environment and job satisfaction. For example, improving work ability, arranging better work space and arranging work station by its section, maintaining the cleanliness of the work environment to avoid unpleasant odors.
