Abstract

Art is the skill of making quality works (in terms of subtlety, beauty, function, shape, meaning of form, and so on), such as dance, music and drama. This shows that art has different characteristics but the meaning remains the same in the form of conveying messages that are entertaining. Nevertheless, there are several characteristics or criteria that require different treatment from the types of art that have been mentioned. The difference can be seen from the arrangement of the stage, auditorium, and the acoustic system of a theater. This is useful for maximizing an art performance that is realized in the interaction between performers of artistic activities and the audience. In general, the purpose of writing this Final Project paper is to design the concept of a Center for Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Drama) that is able to accommodate performing arts activities and all supporting activities related to them. Apart from that, in the process of planning and designing the Art Center Building it also applies some of the characteristics of Contemporary Architecture which is an approach used in this design process. From the whole writing of the Final Project paper and the design concept of the Center for Performing Arts, apart from accommodating its main function, it also serves as a medium for the learning process for new generations who specifically want to explore or are interested in the arts.
