Abstract

The main problem in this study is whether the ratio of mathematics learning achievement of students taught by the problem based learning model is better than the inquiry learning on the topic sub triangle circumference and area on the seventh grade student of SMP country 8 Kupang cities in the school year 2014/2015 ? The purpose of the research to know study achievement comparison on the seventh grade student of SMP N 8 Kupang who are taught using problem based learning model and inquiry learning model on the topic sub triangle circumference and area. Sample of this research is student of the seventh K who are taught using inquiry learning model with consists of 30 studetnts and of the seventh and the student of the seventh L who are taught using problem bases learning model consist of 30 students. The data used in this research is based on pretest and posttest from the first class (problem based learning) and the second class (inquiry learning). Data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 program and manual analyzing. Before the hypothesis done, it used pretest to know the similar sample of both class and the data posttest used to know the hypothesis with using independent sample test. The result of the data pretest analyze is sig. (2-tailed) = 0,444 > 0,05 and t_hitung= 0.770 <t_tabel=2,002. So Ho accepted based on the sample there is no different comprehension on both of class.After the data posttest analyze done, the result is sig. (1-tailed) 0,005<0,05 dan t_hitung=2,955>t_tabel=1,671. So Ho push away. The concusion of this result is the learning comparison that have been taught rised problem based learning model is better than comparison inquiry learning model on the topic sub triangle circumference and area on the seventh grade students of SMP country 8 Kupang cities in the school years 2014/2015. The result of the research proof that the students comprehension wich taught used problem based learning model is better than inquiry learning model.
