Abstract

Good road conditions will facilitate transportation in relation to population and goods mobility. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the road in good condition with maintenance according to road conditions. Small damages that are not handled immediately will cause the damage to get bigger and the effect will be more widespread. The first step in road damage management efforts is a road condition survey. An accurate road condition survey is needed to obtain proper road damage management. The road condition assessment in this study is expressed by the SDI (Surface Distress Index) index value. The scoring system using the SDI method has 4 elements that can be used, namely the percentage of crack area, average crack width, number of holes, and average depth of ruts. The results of the percentage of damage to the average value of SDI conditions on the roads of Siliwangi, Garuda, Gunung Mutis, Gn. Lakaan, Jalan Cendrawasih, Old City Sub-District, Kupang City, the average SDI value is 57, so it has a moderate condition value. The form of handling good and medium category road conditions is Routine and Periodic Maintenance. For severely damaged roads, Road Reconstruction is carried out at a certain time and its nature is to improve the structural ability of the road, namely repairing the entire pavement structure, overlaying, and repairing closed or clogged side channels. Thus the Surface Distress Index (SDI) method is converted to actual conditions.
