Abstract

This research is entitled Building the Capacity of Local Wood Furniture Businesses in Batu Putih District from the Department of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs of South Central Timor Regency. The formulation of the problem in writing this thesis is how to develop the capacity of the local wood furniture business in Batu Putih District by the Department of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs of South Central Timor Regency. The theory used by researchers in solving research problems is building the capacity of the furniture business in the form of developing human resources, accelerating capital accumulation, expanding marketing, facilitating business licensing, developing facilities and infrastructure. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Primary data sources are informants while secondary data are documents related to research variables. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis stage is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification, then analyzing the credibility of the data. The results of this study indicate that (1) Human Resource Development is marked by the existence of the Department of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives, and SMEs providing various types of training to furniture business actors and local carpenters such as: Training on selecting wood, training on measuring wood, training on cutting wood, to The wood is turned into a piece of furniture, then the process of coloring the furniture is done. (2) The acceleration of capital accumulation is marked by the absence of capital assistance provided from the Office of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs of South Central Timor Regency to furniture business actors and local carpenters of Batu Putih District, instead the Office provides assistance in the form of complete carpentry equipment. The Office of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs of South Central Timor Regency has not yet established cooperation with capital parties such as cooperatives or banks in the ease of applying for capital assistance. (3) Marketing Expansion is marked by the absence of assistance from the agency regarding the procurement of furniture exhibitions or bazaars as a means of promotion (4) Ease of Business Licensing marked by the ease of assistance in obtaining MSME permits and the provision of an online website for registering MSME permits (5) Development of Facilities and Infrastructure as indicated by the provision of carpentry tools from the Department of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs to local furniture businesses and carpenters in Batu Putih District. Carpentry assistance consists of semi-automatic equipment and manual equipment. Based on the results of the analysis above, the authors conclude that the Development of Local Wood Furniture Business Capacity in Batu Putih District from the Department of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs of South Central Timor Regency has not gone well, this can be seen in the absence of capital assistance, Expansion of marketing of furniture products , and there are still many local furniture business actors and carpenters who do not yet have MSME permits.
