Abstract

Cucumber is one type of fruit vegetable that has uses for treatment (therapy), cosmetic purposes and contains quite complete nutrients such as calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamin A, vitamin B, and niacin. The limited number of plant experts and the lack of knowledge of farmers regarding the management of diseases and pests that attack cucumber plants cause losses and instability in cucumber production. From the existing problems, it is necessary to create a web-based expert system application that can diagnose diseases and pests of cucumber plants. This research uses the Forward Chaining method which can work systematically to collect facts and provide solutions to disease and pest problems that attack cucumber plants. This application was built using the PHP programming language and MySQL Database. The results of this study are an expert system that can assist farmers in diagnosing diseases and pests of cucumber plants without having to wait for the arrival of a plant expert. An expert system is an alternative means that can provide information and solutions in dealing with diseases and pests that attack cucumber plants.
