Abstract

This study is entitled “The Ability of the Students of English Education Department of Unwira Kupang in Writing Narrative Text. It aims to answer the following questions: (1) Are the fourth semester students of English education study program of Widya Mandira Catholic University able to write Narrative Text? (2) What is the level of ability in writing Narrative Text of the fourth semester students of English education study program of Widya Mandira Catholic University? The objectives of this study are: (1) To find out whether or not the fourth semester students of the English education study program of Widya Mandira Catholic University able to write Narrative Text. (2) To find out the level of ability of the fourth semester students of English education study program of Widya Mandira Catholic University. In order to solve these problems the writer used descriptive method. This method was used because the aim of the study was to describe the writing ability level of semester fourth of English education at Widya Mandira Catholic University. The subjects of the study were 15 students of English Education Study Program of Widya Mandira Catholic University. The result of the research shows that in general the students were able to write Narrative Text. The level of their writing ability is very good (5). Based on the result of the study, the writer would like to suggest the students to be more active in learning their grammar, vocabulary, mechanic, fluency and form in writing Narrative Text.
