Abstract

Dynamics is the loud or soft volume of a tone. Dynamics are usually used by composers to show how the feelings contained in a composition, whether it is cheerful, sad, flat, or aggressive. The problem in this study is that OMK Santa Teresa Avila Sanjuan Penfui still has difficulty singing with good dynamics techniques, so that the meaning or message in the song is not conveyed properly. Therefore, this study aims to apply dynamics techniques in unisono singing to the OMK (Catholic Youth) group of Santa Teresa Avila Sanjuan Penfui using the song model "Sancta Maria" by Johannes Joseph Schweitzer to add insight into dynamics techniques. This research used field action method and descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects were 12 members of OMK Santa Teresa Avila Sanjuan Penfui. Data collection techniques were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The learning process of dynamics techniques in this study is divided into 3 stages, namely the initial stage where at this stage the researcher recruits research subjects and determines the training schedule, the core stage is to start practicing the application of dynamics techniques in singing unisono on the song Sancta Maria, the final stage is the stage of taking video results. The results of this study indicate that the learning methods used in this research process, namely the imitation method and the drill method, are very helpful in mastering the material. This can be seen from the development of the research subject. The subjects can sing according to the signs of dynamics in the song, although they experience difficulties, but through regular and continuous practice, the research subjects can sing according to the signs of dynamics in the song Sancta Maria. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of dynamics techniques to OMK Santa Teresa Avila with the song Sancta Maria was able to achieve good results even though it was not optimal.
