Abstract

This thesis is entitled "Identification of Feminist Values ​​Through the Role of a Mother in the Film Mars, Ananda's Dream Reaches the Universe (Tzvetan Todorov's Narrative Analysis)". One of the elements that make up the film is the narrative element. The advantages of narrative analysis are knowing and understanding meaning, value and being able to investigate hidden things either implicit or explicit in a story such as the values ​​of feminism. Therefore the researcher wants to identify the values ​​of feminism through the role of mother in the film Mars, Ananda's Dreams Reach Semesta using Tzvetan Todorov's narrative analysis. The concepts in this research are communication, film, narrative analysis, Tzvetan Thodorov's narrative analysis, and feminism. This type of research is descriptive qualitative and uses Tzvetan Todorov's narrative analysis method. Data collection techniques used are observation and documentation. The analysis technique used is watching films, collecting scenes, narrating the plot of the film using Tzvetan Todorov's narrative, identifying feminist values. The result of this study is the identification of feminist values ​​through the role of mother in the film Mars, Ananda's Dreams Reach the Universe using narrative analysis of the Tzvetan Todorov model which is divided into three parts, namely the initial plot (balance), the middle plot (disorder), the final plot (rebalance). ). The initial plot in this study begins with a child's speech through an achievement and then there is a passage of time showing the preparation of both parents in their child's education in elementary school. The middle plot is where there are various conflicts related to children's education and the social environment while the final plot is the position of the mother and child focusing on their dreams. Based on the three plot divisions, six feminist values ​​are found in the entire narrative. The six values ​​of feminism are mingled in the overall narrative of Tzvetan Todorov's model. There are two feminist values ​​that stand out in the initial plot, namely gender equality and anti-subordination, as well as two in the middle channel, namely anti-marginalization and against choice violence, solidarity and against stereotypes in the final channel. From the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the presentation of the story in the film Mars, Ananda's Dream Reaches the Universe uses Tzvetan Todorov's narrative elements in the form of an initial plot, middle plot and ending plot so as to be able to identify the value of feminism in the film. Feminism refers to how a woman can have the same opportunities to develop herself as men. Based on the presentation of the film's narrative, six values ​​of feminism are found which are divided into three plot divisions. The six values ​​of feminism are gender equality, anti-subordination, anti-marginalization, against violence, choice, solidarity and against stereotypes. Suggestions for viewers and potential viewers of Mars' film, Ananda's Dream Reaches the Universe can make this film a motivation to learn.
