Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the discovery learning model on students' problem solving abilities on substance stress material in class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Kupang Tengah 2022/2023. This type of research is pre-experimental with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. Sampling was done by means of saturated sampling, all class VIII students as many as 25 people. The instrument used is a problem solving ability test consisting of 5 validated questions. The average pretest result was 64 and the posttest average result was 75.52. Based on the results of the paired sample T-Test, it was found that there was a significant difference in the problem solving abilities of students who used the discovery learning model with students who used conventional learning on substance stress material.
