Abstract

The studys is entitled “ A STUDY ON THE TRANSLATION FROM INDONESIAN READING TEXT INTO ENGLISH OF THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA KATOLIK ST. DARIUS LARANTUKA IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2020/2021”. It was conducted to answer the following questions:(1) Is the translation from Indonesian reading text into English of the eleventh grade of SMA Katolik St. Darius Larantuka good or not?. ( 2) What are the difficulties faced by the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Katolik St. Darius Larantuka in translating an Indonesian reading text into English ? The objectives of the study are (1) To find out whether the translation made by the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Katolik St Darius good or not Larantuka( 2) To find out the difficulties faced by the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Katolik St Darius Larantuka in the school year 2020/2021, in translating an Indonesian reading text into English. The writer used descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were the Eleventh grade students of SMA Katolik St Darius Larantuka in the school year 2020/2021. There were 20 students as the subjects in collecting the data, the writer gave a text entitled “ Burung Gereja ”. Based on the result of analysis, the conclusions of the study are: (1) The student’s translation is classified as bad.(2) the difficulties faced by the 11 th grade students were Based on the result of the study, some suggestions are presented as follows: (1) For the English teacher especially the English teacher of the eleventh grade students of SMA Katolik St. Darius Larantuka, should pay attention in teaching English especially on grammar, vocabularies and the correct words in the sentences. The teacher should give more exercises to the students in translating a from Indonesian’ text into English.(2) The eleventh grade students of SMA Katolik St .Darius Larantuka and all students in general to learn more English grammar, and vocabulary. They can translate the text well.
