Abstract

Roads in Law No. 13 of 1980 refer to all forms of land transportation infrastructure, including roads, additional buildings and equipment built for traffic. Road sections include: Road Benefit Areas (DAMAJA), Road Owned Areas (DAMIJA), and Road Supervision Areas (DAWASJA). The Tua Bata road section is a strategic road in the Alak District area, Kupang City. This road is not only passed by cars and motorbikes but is also usually passed by container trucks, so that this road is classified as a Class III A arterial road. This road functions to shorten travel time to get to quite important places, for example to the airport, Markets, offices and out of Kupang City. Evaluation of road damage conditions on old brick roads was carried out using the PCI (Pavement Condition Index) method. The length of the road studied was 3 km so the segment was divided into 3 parts with each segment length being 1 km (1000 m). The results of the research show that there are 4 (four) main categories of damageidentified km 0 + 000 – 3 + 000, namely Crocodile Skin Cracks (alligator crack), Road Subsidence, Potholes, and Patching with the overall PCI value obtained : 33.33 which means the condition of the road surface is poor.
