Abstract

Takanab is a traditional speech performed at welcoming guests by the Dawan Tribe community, especially in Matabesi Village, Biboki Moenleu District, North Central Timor Regency. Takanab is carried out by answering in the form of a group headed by one person as the leader. The main problems in this research are (1) What is the technique of serving Takanab at the guest pick-up event in Matabesi village, Biboki Moenleu subdistrict, North Central Timor Regency, (2) What is the form of serving Takanab. The objectives of this research are (1) to determine the presentation technique of Takanab at the guest pick-up event in Matabesi village, Biboki Moenleu subdistrict, North Central Timor Regency. (2) To find out the form of presentation of Takanab at the reception event for guests in Matabesi Village, Biboki Moenleu District, North Central Timor Regency. This research is qualitative in nature and was conducted using Naturalistic and Ethnographic Methods. Data collection techniques use library studies and field studies through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that the Takanab recitation technique is carried out by involving the technique of (1) Articulation, pronouncing words clearly so that the meaning can be understood. (2) Accent, on words towards the end of a sentence phrase will stimulate and encourage the other party to respond. (3) Diction, the choice of words must be precise, clearly appropriate to the context of an event, namely those that are well known, popular/frequently used by the public. The form of presenting Takanab is that it is done in groups in response. There is one person who plays the role of leader in this case as the speaker and the other participants in a group answer or answer in one word together
