Abstract

This research aims to: (1) determine the perceptions of class VIII students regarding the characteristics of mathematics teachers at SMP Negeri 2 Kupang city; (2) determine the mathematics learning achievement of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Kupang city; and (3) determine the influence of class VIII students' perceptions regarding the characteristics of mathematics teachers on mathematics learning achievement at SMP Negeri 2 Kupang city. This research uses a simple regression analysis approach. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Kupang City in November 2023. The population in this study were class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Kupang city. The sample in this study was 30 students obtained through the cluster random sampling method. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and tests. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and inferentially using SPSS 23. The descriptive research results showed that 20 students had good perceptions of the characteristics of mathematics teachers with a good category percentage of 66.67% and 25 students had good mathematics learning achievement with a good category percentage of 83 .3%. Meanwhile, inferentially it shows that there is a significant influence between students' perceptions of the characteristics of mathematics teachers on mathematics learning achievement as indicated by the value of 〖〖 t〗_hitung (2,714)〗_ >〖t_tabel〗_ (1,701) at the 5% significance level, which means that H_0 is rejected and large The influence of students' perceptions of the characteristics of mathematics teachers on mathematics learning achievement is 20.8%, as indicated by a coefficient of determination of 0.208.
