Abstract
ABSTRACT There are several reasons why traffic accidents occur, including the driver's health, drowsiness, the influence of alcohol, and others. Kupang City, especially on the Frans Seda road (Oebobo roundabout), has quite dense traffic flow and there are no traffic signal devices (apill lights), so drivers make critical crossings which can cause traffic accidents. So research is carried out at these locations to determine the level of risk of traffic accidents and provide solutions that can be done to prevent and reduce the number of accidents. For the results, the research location has a high level of accident risk, with an accident probability value of 0.65 < SF < 0.55. This vehicle has a speed comparable to the 40 km/hour class with an accident risk percentage value of 10.00 – 19.99 which is in the high category so it needs to be handled with control planning, meaning that the speed that is most likely to cause a traffic accident on Jalan Frans Seda in Kupang City . As a result of the accident risk study, an alternative that can be implemented on the Frans Seda road section (Oebobo roundabout), namely reducing conflict and the risk of traffic accidents on the road by adding road speed warning signs and noise tape before the Frans Seda road intersection, Kupang City.
