Abstract

Hot mix asphalt concrete is one form of flexible pavement used in road construction. This type of pavement consists of a uniform mixture of aggregates and binding material at specific temperatures. There are three types of asphalt mixtures known for their high durability: Laston (Asphalt Concrete Layer), Lataston (Thin Asphalt Concrete Layer), as well as Base and Surface Course layers. The aggregate gradation for AC-WC mixture is a combination of various types of aggregates with specific percentages to achieve the required gradation according to specifications, which must meet the specified limits and fall within the specified range. Based on Marshall test results, the Quarry Naru material mixture has been proven to meet the requirements of Bina Marga 2018 specifications in terms of Marshall parameter values, including VIM, VMA, VFA, Stability, Flow, and the ratio of particles passing sieve no. 200 with effective asphalt content. The optimal proportion of the Quarry Naru material mixture includes 9.40% crushed stone ¾, 33.84% crushed stone ½, 36.66% stone dust, 13.16% sand, and 0.94% filler (cement), with a total combined proportion of 100%. The optimum asphalt content, which is the midpoint value within the range of asphalt content satisfying all Marshall parameters, has been successfully achieved within the range of 5.39% to 6.60%. With an optimum asphalt content value of 6.0%, all requirements set by the Bina Marga specifications have been fulfilled, including Stability, Flow, VIM, VMA, VFA, and the ratio of particles passing sieve no. 200 with effective asphalt content.
