Abstract

This research is titled "The Role of Mbaru Gendang as a Means of Resolving Social Conflicts in Golo Wangkung Village, Congkar District, East Manggarai Regency." The issue at hand is the dispute over inherited land from parents. The main problem is: What is the role of Mbaru Gendang as a means of resolving social conflicts in Golo Wangkung Village? The research aims to describe the role of Mbaru Gendang as a means of resolving social conflicts in Golo Wangkung Village, Congkar District, East Manggarai Regency. The research problem is addressed using theories as basic concepts about land conflict resolution, namely: conflict theory by Ralf Dero and Mintzberg's role theory. Primary data used in the study were obtained from interviews and observations, while secondary data were obtained from documents such as data and analyzed qualitatively descriptively. The research results show that in conflict resolution, Tu’a Golo uses two indicators, which are: 1. Decision-making Indicator, with aspects such as: Building effective dialogue and communication, Creating space for listening to each other, Facilitating conflict mediation and negotiation, Encouraging community participation and involvement, Building shared understanding and reconciliation, Assisting in finding fair and acceptable solutions for all conflicting parties. 2. Problem-solving Indicator, with aspects such as: Facilitating Exchange of Information and Perspectives Between Conflicting Parties, Building nonverbal communication that can alleviate tension and strengthen intergroup relations, Mbaru Gendang as a Means of Communication Between Conflicting Parties. In conclusion, in resolving inheritance land conflicts, Tu’a Golo has fulfilled its role and successfully reconciled the conflicting parties. The writer's suggestion is for Tu’a Golo to remain wise in decision-making and to maintain its duties and functions in nurturing the community to create a harmonious and peaceful society. Additionally, it is hoped that the conflicting parties will remain committed to the decisions agreed upon in Lonto Leok.
