Abstract

Shopping centers originally functioned as trading centers, similar to traditional markets which are the center of buying and selling for the community, namely to fulfill the needs of the community. Kupang City has various types of shopping centers such as Flobamora Mall, Transmart and Lippo Plaza. Malls in the city of Kupang have various types of sales so that people / visitors often shop. Mistakes made when designing malls in Kupang City are too much emphasis on the exterior appearance of the mall, lack of emphasis on circulation planning, lack of open space. One of the problems that often arises in designing shopping malls is the lack of open space which can be an alternative. entertainment facilities and shopping centers for the community. The shopping center that will be planned is to present an entertainment center such as a night club and park to open up space for people to come, walk around and enjoy a comfortable and modern atmosphere. Night clubs or night entertainment venues can be an additional attraction for shopping centers. In this shopping center, a Contemporary Architecture approach will be applied to the planning and design of Kupang mall, such as playing with colors and unique shapes so that the building is easily recognized. The use of the name Kupang Mall makes it one of the iconic places in Kupang City.
