Abstract

Adonara is one of the areas in East Flores Regency that is often affected by natural disasters. This is because Adonara Island has a tropical climate with an average long dry season, so very little vegetation grows in the area. Information regarding disaster-prone areas on Adonara Island is not yet well known by the community, mapping of disaster-prone areas has not been computerized so that efforts to optimize disaster anticipation by the community are still minimal. The Geographic Information System (GIS) itself is a computer system used to collect, examine, integrate and analyze information related to the earth's surface. So this research aims to create a Geographic Information System for Mapping Areas Prone to Natural Disasters on Adonara Island, so that the public gets information to prepare in anticipation of disasters that will come in the future so that losses incurred as a result of disasters can be minimized. It is hoped that this research can help make it easier for the public to obtain information about disaster-prone areas on Adonara Island in order to minimize losses caused by disasters.
