Abstract
Traditional markets are often considered as one of the infrastructures that bring a bad image to the city. Likewise, the condition of the traditional market in the eyes of the community in Malacca district when mushrooming causes to increase the congestion of circulation movements in the market becoming a classic problem in every traditional market that causes discomfort in the market. However, the public's interest in shopping at this market has not decreased, where this market is located right in the capital city of Malacca. Competitive cheap prices of goods offered within the scope of the traditional market are the choice of shopping solutions from some people. Many traders from inside and outside the city depend on the results of their trade in this market. Therefore, the existence of the Motamasin-Betun Traditional Market which is very important in the development of the city's economy, it is necessary to redesign the Motamasin-Betun Traditional Market in Malacca Regency. By not eliminating the parts that are characteristic of the object, the theme of Vernacular Architectural Transformation is expected to be able to dismantle the existing cases and share solutions to the efforts to adjust to humans and buildings, so that it can make market visitors feel safe about the building. This research aims to redesign a traditional market building that is in accordance with the criteria of the people's market applied to the traditional market building of Motamasin-Betun with the provision and arrangement of supporting and supporting facilities as well as good and regular management to support or support the continuity of activities and show the cultural locality applied to the traditional market of Motamasin-Betun. This research method uses a descriptive research method. This research resulted in the rearrangement of the zoning of traders, the appearance of buildings that are integrated with the local community and the circulation of people with free and comfortable goods.
