Abstract
The ongko koe song is one of the traditional songs of the Manggarai people that has existed since the time of the ancestors which was performed during the traditional ceremony of congko lokap. However, over time, the development of the times and technology has affected the lives of the people in Wajur Village, causing the understanding of traditional songs to still be very minimal among the residents. The people in this village, especially the younger generation, prefer popular pop songs compared to traditional songs from their home area. The main problem in this study is how the function and form of the ongko koe song in the traditional ceremony of congko lokap in the people of Wajur Village, West Kuwus Subdistrict, West Manggarai Regency. This study aims to determine the function and form of the ongko koe song in the traditional ceremony of congko lokap. The research approach used in this study is qualitative descriptive using ethnographic methods. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the ongko koe song serves to strengthen the relationship of unity of the Wajur community and is a means of expressing prayer requests to God and ancestors. The form of presenting this song is performed in the form of group vocals without the use of musical instruments formed from very simple melodies and lyrics and is composed of cako (solo), cual (refrein), and wale (answer to the song's verses).
