Abstract
Helena Tuti Herawari (42120079), The Role of Indigenous Elders as Coordinators in the Division of Customary Land through Lonto Leok Culture, in Tangge Village, Lembor District, West Manggarai Regency, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. May 2024. This study aims to determine the role of Tua Adat as a coordinator in the division of customary land through the Lonto Leok culture, in Tangge Village, Lembor District, West Manggarai Regency, this research uses 2 (two) indicators, namely: The first indicator, The role of Tua adat as a coordinator in the division of customary land has 3 (three) roles, namely: (1) Leading the Traditional Ceremony of Teing Hang (giving offerings), (2) Division of Land /ingko, (3) Resolving problems "if problems occur". The second indicator (2) Factors affecting coordination (Hasibuan 2006: 88), are as follows: (1) Unity of action, (2) Communication, (3) Discipline (4) Organizing deliberations in lonto leok. This research method uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The place of research was conducted in Tangge Village. Data collection techniques include: observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques by reducing or summarizing the data obtained, then by presenting data that has a relationship with the title. The results showed that the role of traditional elders (tu'a golo, tu'a teno, tu'a panga) in the division of customary land is (1) Leading the Teing hang Traditional Ceremony (giving offerings) led by Tu'a Golo, (2) Division of Land / customary land by Tu'a teno witnessed by Tu'a panga and the Community (3) Resolving Problems "if a Problem occurs" (4) Unity of action, The importance of Tu'a teno coordination in the process of dividing customary land (5) Communication between Tu'a Golo and the Sambir Jong community through the delivery of information regarding the Teing hang ceremony (giving offerings) before the process of dividing customary land (6) Discipline, obeying the rules of order before the division of customary land (7) Organizing deliberations in lonto leok. Thus it can be concluded that the division of customary land cannot be separated from the role of traditional elders (tu'a golo, tu'a teno, tu'a panga).
