Abstract

Development in Ruteng City is experiencing very rapid development marked by the rise of economic growth which raises new problems in transportation, especially congestion due to high traffic movements due to land use. This research is motivated by congestion caused by parking activities on the roadside on Jalan Bhayangkara. Ruteng City which should be intended for the smooth flow of traffic, but in reality on this road there is a reduction in the width of the effective traffic lane due to roadside parking activities, so that the smooth flow of traffic is disrupted. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of on-street parking on traffic performance and to find efforts to control on-street parking at the research location. The method used in this research is the direct observation method at two observation points and data collection in the field in the form of traffic volume data and parking volume, as well as the performance of road sections. Observations were made on weekdays (Monday), and holidays (Sunday). The results of the analysis of the performance of the road section found that the existing traffic volume on the Bhayangkara road section from the North - South direction is 750.2 smp / hour, and the South - North direction is 528.8 smp / hour, with the lowest level of service index in category C and the highest service index is in category D. Thus it can be concluded that parking on the roadside results in a decrease in the capacity of the roadway.
