Abstract

The caci dance is a war dance performed by a pair of male dancers and is also a tradisional ruku of the Manggarai people, especially Sita Village, which must be performed. However, as time goes by changes and developments affect the lives of the people in Sita Village. The changes and developments in society have caused young people to tend to learn modern things rather than raditional ones, so there are still many who are not involved in Caci performances. The basic problems in this research are 1) What factors influence the lact of involvement of the younger generation in the Caci performances in Sita Village? And 2) How efforts are being Made to preserve and maintain the Caci dance in Sita Village. This research aims to determine the factors that cause the lack of involvement of young people in Sita Village. The research approach used in this research is a quantitative research approach and a descriptive qualitative research approach and used field action methods. Data collection techiques use library research and field studies (observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentation). The resource persons involved in this research were tradisional elders, community leaders and young people. The results of this research show that many young people are interested in Caci, but do not remember being directly involved. Several factors that cause the lack of involvement of young people are economic factors, lack of talent, and fear. Based on these factors, the efforts Made to preserve Caci are by conducting learning at the formal (education) and informal (sub-district/village) levels.
