Abstract

Traditional ceremony is a form of tradition that is passed down from generation to generation which is carried out regularly and orderly according to customs, community habits in the form of a series of request activities as an expression of gratitude. One of the ceremonies is in the Pemo area of Ende Regency which holds a tradition in the form of asking for blessings so that the village is kept away from all kinds of diseases, requests that plants can get good results and all of that is sung through a call or song called Sodha. Sodha is recited by a sodha singer (ata Sodha) who has a special charisma to sing sodha. The formulation of the problem that I raise in this paper is, how is the process of the Joka Ju ceremony which is believed to be a process of exorcism and gratitude and what is the meaning contained in the Sodha song in the Joka Ju ceremony. From this formulation of the problem, the objectives that the author wants to achieve include: knowing the process of the Joka Ju ceremony contained in the Sodha Joka Ju song in the Pemo Village community. This study was conducted using a qualitative approach with an ethnographic design. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study showed that there were stages in the Joka Ju ritual, including: The initial stage "So Bhoka Au" is a ceremony held every 1st of October. The purpose of the event is to determine the date of the Joka Ju traditional ritual by burning bamboo. The stages of the Joka Ju Ritual include: "Kewo kolo wawi" is a ceremony where the mosalakı kill pigs to see signs of success in the following year. "Ngilo Ate Wawi" is a ceremony where all mosalaki see pig's liver, with the intention that mosalaki can know things or events in the future or the coming year. "Pai Pire" is a ceremony where mosalaki convey or announce taboos that will be carried out tomorrow. These taboos are, not allowed to dry clothes outside the house, not allowed to burn outside the house whether it is burning garbage or burning anything, not allowed to dig the ground and not allowed to pick any plants. "Nugu Wini" is a ceremony where mosalaki convey their predictions for the weather, and what will happen in the future for the Pemo village community. Thanksgiving Stage; At this stage, the community involved in the Joka Ju ritual has fun in the Gawi Dance led by Ata Sodha. The main purpose of the author in taking this research title is so that readers can recognize and understand what Sodha's singing is in the Gawi dance at the Joka Ju ceremony which has become a tradition that has existed and is always believed by the Pemo Village community, Kelimutu District, Ende Regency as a ritual that brings blessings to the Pemo Village community.
