Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the learning outcomes and motivation to learn physics and to determine the increase in learning outcomes and motivation to learn physics after applying the Discovery Learning (DL) model. The type of research used in this study is quantitative descriptive research. The study was conducted at Santa Familia Catholic Junior High School for the 2023/2024 school year. The samples used in this study were taken by purposive sampling technique, namely class VII C students totaling 22 people. The devices and instruments used are Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), Teaching Materials, Student Worksheets (LKPD), test question grids in the form of Multiple Choice (PG) and learning motivation questionnaire grids. Data analysis techniques in this study are descriptive analysis and N-Gain test. The results showed that the average learning outcomes in the initial test were obtained on average 45.90 with less learning outcomes category and the final test averaged 85.00 with very good learning outcomes category. While the average percentage of learning motivation on the pretest was 57.88 with the sufficient motivation category and the average posttest percentage was 79.03 with the high motivation category. The results of N-Gain testing on learning outcomes are 0.70 while on learning motivation 0.49. It can be concluded that there is an increase in learning outcomes and student motivation after applying the Discovery Learning model to Temperature and Heat material.
