Abstract

Ipi Lete is one of the songs that serves as a link between the people of Lakmaras Village and is believed as an ancestral heritage used as a form of thanksgiving to nature and God for the harvests obtained. The Lete Lete is usually associated with agricultural activities during the harvesting of peach crops, but today the Lete lights are also performed every year in traditional events held by the community. The main problem in this research is: 1.) How the form of the singing of Ipi Lete in the community of Lakmaras District, Lamaknen District, South. 2.) What the meaning of the Singing of Lete is in the life of the people of Lakma Lete District, Belu District. The purpose of the research is to: 1. The research is carried out using a qualitative approach and the method used is ethnography. Data collection techniques use interviews, observations, and documentation. Research data are analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research show that (1). The process of performing the Ipi Lete singing is that the male and female dancers make half a circle where the first layer is the male dancer and the second layer of the female dance when the number of participants is large then the third layer and so on is made. This song is presented in the form of mutual retaliation between men and women by the local community until the poem is exhausted. (2) The meaning contained in the lyrics of Ipi Lete is that in the first poem there is a denotative meaning that is commonly called the referential meaning of the first, second and third poems relating to a fact or a reference that indicates something, either, symptoms, facts, important events or processes.
