Abstract
The pedo'a dance is a sacred dance that is specifically danced during traditional ceremonies. This dance has a unique form and contains a number of noble values. However, some people in Mehona Village do not have sufficient understanding of the form of presentation and the meaning contained therein. The problems in this research are (1) What is the form of presentation of Pedo'a Dance songs in the Mehona community, Sabu Raijua Regency. (2) what is the meaning of the song in pedo'a dance. The aims of this research are (1) to find out the form of singing in the Pedo'a Dance in the Mehona community, Sabu Raijua Regency, (2) to find out and explain the meaning of the songs in the pedo'a dance. This research uses qualitative methods. Research data was collected using observation, interview and documentation techniques. Data analysis was carried out using the flow of data collection, data reduction, data display, drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that: (1) the form of singing in the pedo'a dance: The pedo'a song is sung solo and in the form of a reply, because in this pedo'a song there is something called bo'ka dega. In the pedo'a song there is a presentation structure as follows: a) Wob'ba ah'hi (first movement), b) Wob'ba due (second movement) c) Wob'ba tal'lu or dede (third movement), d) Wob'ba ap'pa or gili rai (fourth movement), e) Wobba lamm'mi (final song. (2) the meaning contained in the pedo'a dance song is religious meaning, historical meaning (history), sociological meaning , and aesthetic meaning (beauty). Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the meaning of the song in pedo dance, a is an expression of gratitude to God, the Creator of the Universe and the Ancestors who have provided fertility, prosperity and abundance so that they have harvested crops. the plants, whether green beans or corn or sorghum and rice, are also a message and impression about past history which has become a form of folk entertainment that contains the artistic values of life for the cultural successors of the Sabu people.
