Abstract

The Discovery learning is learning model is a learning model that involves students to be active, learns to find their own theories and solve problems given by the teacher to a conclusion The general problem in this study is how the results of the application of the discovery learning model of the subject matter to the eighth grade students of Kupang Middle School N 4 even semester 2018/2019?Specifically, 1.What is the teacher's ability to manage learning by applying discovery learning models? 2. What are the completeness indicators of student learning outcomes in learning by applying discovery learning models? 3. What is the completeness of student learning outcomes by applying discovery learning models? 4. How do students respond in learning by implementing discovery learning models? This type of research is descriptive research, the subjects in this study were teachers (researchers) and students of class VIII even semester SMP N 4 kupang 2018/2019 academic year, amounting to 30 students. The subject of this study was determined using purpose sampling technique which is a technique of determining samples with certain considerations. The research design used was one group pretest and posttest design. The techniques used in collecting data were observation, tests, and questionnaires. The instruments used in this study were learning management observation sheets, learning outcomes tests, and student response sheets. Data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis techniques that included average scores, proportions and percentages. Based on the results of descriptive analysis of research data and discussion of the results of the study, it was found that learning by applying discovery learning models to the subject matter of sound in class VIII even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year, amounting to 30 students was optimal.In detail, the teacher's ability to manage learning, which includes learning planning,learning and evaluation of learning, all obtain an average score of 3.93. in good category. Cognitive learning outcomes indicators obtained an average score of 0.91,affective scores averaged 0.95,and psychomotor scores averaged 0.91 all completed. The response of students to learning activities which includes five aspects obtaining a score of 85% generally has very good criteria.
