Abstract

This research aimed to assess the effectiveness of clustering techniques in improving the writing skills of tenth-grade students at SMK Negeri Op during the 2023/2024 academic year. The study focused on the application of the clustering technique to enhance students' abilities in writing procedure texts and evaluated their writing proficiency following instruction using this method. Employing a Classroom Action Research design, the study comprised three cycles of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations and tests. The results showed a significant improvement in students' writing abilities, with the average score increasing from 39.37 in the pre-test to 85.62 in the post-test II, and the percentage of students achieving the minimum passing grade rising from 10% to 90%. These findings suggest that the clustering technique is highly effective in enhancing the writing skills of vocational school students. The technique helps students generate ideas more systematically and efficiently, leading to better writing performance. The study provides valuable insights for teachers and educators on implementing clustering techniques to improve writing skills, particularly in vocational school contexts. The findings can inform teaching strategies and improve student outcomes in writing procedure texts.
