Abstract

This research was motivated by the large number of young people who could continue their education to the college level because of the tradition of school parties, but there were also some numbers of young people who could not continue their education to the education level because they experienced constraints in education costs, this happened because the school party only prioritized the firstborn in each family. For this reason, it is necessary to sustain the school party tradition in order to support the education of young people in Mukun who experience obstacles in higher education. The purpose of this study is to examine the sustainability of school party customs in supporting youth education in Mukun. School parties as an activity that is in solidarity in the sphere of community life are able to provide support for youth education in the form of financial assistance. The theory used in this study is sustainability theory. The methods used in this study are qualitative methods and descriptive approaches. The results showed that there were activities from the Mukun community that showed support for the sustainability of the school party tradition. This can be seen from three important aspects, namely the establishment of a set of criteria in the school party tradition that supports the school party tradition as an activity that provides social support for the community, the existence of a clear vision / goal and does not burden any party and the emotional bond in the form of motivation for students who study with financial assistance from the school party fund. In conclusion, the continuation of the school party tradition can improve the education of young people in Mukun.
