Abstract

This study aims to: 1) Know the teacher's ability to carry out the learning process using the PhET simulation with the STAD learning model the subject matter of vibration, waves and sounds in class VIII Adisucipto Penfui Catholic Middle School in academic year 2018/2019; 2) Knowing the learning interests of students before and after using the PhET simulation with the STAD learning model; 3) Knowing the cognitive learning outcomes of students before and after using the PhET simulation with the STAD learning model; 4) Knowing the interests and cognitive learning outcomes before and after using the PhET simulation with the STAD learning model. The population in this study were eighth grade students of Adisucipto Catholic Middle School consisting of 4 classes. The research sample was students of class VIII A, samples were taken using random sampling techniques. The data collection techniques used in this study were tests and non-tests. The test is used to retrieve data on cognitive learning outcomes, the test used is the objective test. Non tests, questionnaires and observations are used. Questionnaires are used to retrieve data on students' interest in learning while observations are made for data collection related to the teacher's ability to carry out learning. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis is used to describe the research data that includes the ability of teachers to carry out learning, interest in learning, and cognitive learning outcomes. Furthermore, inferential analysis was conducted to see the effect of the Phet simulation through STAD cooperative learning on interests and learning outcomes. Inferential analysis used is a paired t test. The results showed that: 1) The ability of teachers to carry out learning activities on the subject matter of vibration, waves and sounds in class VIII Adisucipto Penfui Catholic Middle School through learning using Phet simulation with STAD class VII SMP cooperative learning model was very good; 2) There is the influence of using Phet simulation through STAD cooperative learning on students' interest in learning with a sig value of 0.000 < 0.05; 3) There is the influence of using Phet simulation through STAD cooperative learning on students' cognitive learning outcomes with a sig value of 0,000 < 0,05. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that learning using Phet simulations with the STAD cooperative model is well done and gives a significant influence on students' interest and cognitive learning outcomes.
