Abstract

This study examines the role of the Karang Taruna youth organization as a platform for youth empowerment in Oben Village, Nekamese District, Kupang Regency. The study aims to describe and analyze the role of the Karang Taruna youth organization as a platform for youth empowerment in Oben Village, Nekamese District, Kupang Regency, with a focus on four main roles: facilitator, motivator, communicator, and consultant. Through interviews with various related parties, this research found that Karang Taruna plays an important role in mobilizing the participation of youth and the community in various village development activities. As a facilitator, Karang Taruna is still focused on sports activities, but there is a need for program diversification to be more inclusive and beneficial to the entire community, including women. As a motivator, they successfully inspire young people through religious activities and social media usage education. As a communicator, Karang Taruna effectively disseminates information and acts as a mediator between the village government and the community, increasing active participation in planning and implementing development programs. As a consultant, they provide insights based on local needs and help formulate solutions to improve the village's quality of life. This study suggests diversifying activities, enhancing training and motivation, optimizing communication, and strengthening monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to increase the effectiveness of Karang Taruna's role in sustainable village development
