Abstract

This thesis aims to describe and analyze the dynamics of conflict and to determine the causes of the conflict over land for the Mirek traditional market in Oringbele Village, Witihama District, East Flores Regency. This thesis uses a qualitative-descriptive method by utilizing interview, observation and documentation instruments. The main theory used is conflict theory. Conflict theory is used because it is able to explain the dynamics of conflict and to determine the factors causing the conflict over land for the Mirek traditional market in Oringbele Village, Witihama District, East Flores Regency. The results of the research analysis show that the conflict over land for the Mirek traditional market is a conflict of economic interests that occurs between the conflicting parties in the form of conflict, clashes of ideas and physical threats to justify ownership of the land and resources of the Mirek traditional market, which is basically land that is already was granted by two land owners for the use of a football field. Apart from that, the land also operates as a morning market, so one of the parties claimed it as the owner of the land and took over the function of managing the market from the Oringbele Village Government, which then gave rise to conflict. The solution is to return the land to its original function, namely as a football field and relocate the Mirek traditional market to another location.
