The aim of this research is to describe the leadership of traditional leaders in the guti nale ceremony tradition (collecting/catching sea worms) in Pasir Putih Village, Nagawutung District, Lembata Regency. To explain the main problem in this research, a theory of leadership and informal leadership was built with a focus on the leadership of traditional leaders in the guti nale ceremony tradition (collecting/catching sea worms) in Pasir Putih Village, Nagawutung District, Lembata Regency. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method and the techniques used are interview and documentation techniques. The results of this research show that (1) the role of the traditional leader in the construction of the koker nale and guidance in the preparation stage for implementing the guti nale tradition is very central. The traditional leader as the ceremonial leader of the guti nale is also directly involved in the construction of the koker nale and the traditional leader also directs the community involved in the construction of the koker nale so that the place in the koker nale where the stone is placed as an offering to the ancestors is in the correct direction, namely facing the mountain. (2) the leadership of the traditional leader in the ceremonial implementation stage of the guti nale tradition in terms of directing the preparation of offerings, placing items or offerings, giving food offerings to the ancestors, and chanting prayer poetry in the traditional language before and after the ceremonial activities of the guti nale tradition are very important for carried out as a form of customary responsibility. (3) The leadership of the traditional leader in the final stage of the ceremonial implementation of the guti nale tradition is not a series of activities, but the role of the traditional leader as leader of this ceremony is very total, where he must again light the candles to symbolize the end of the guti nale ceremony. Apart from that, the role of the traditional leader in the final stage of the guti nale tradition is also shown in the direction and appeal to the community to participate actively as a form of preserving the cultural heritage and cultural richness of the local indigenous community.
