Abstract

The title of this thesis is "Community Participation in the Preservation of Natoni Culture in Nunuanah Village, Amfoang Timur District, Kupang Regency". The purpose of this study is to determine community participation and the factors influencing community participation in preserving Natoni culture in Nunuanah Village, Amfoang Timur District, Kupang Regency within the conceptual framework of cultural preservation by Chaedar Alwasilah. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The primary data sources are the informants, while secondary data consists of documents related to the research variables. Data collection techniques used include interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis involves data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate: (1) Awareness-raising efforts are conducted through an annual festival consisting of artistic activities and exhibitions, indicating a lack of continuous guidance to ensure the preservation of Natoni culture. (2) Collective planning has not been well executed, as evidenced by the lack of cooperation between the Nunuanah Village government and other parties such as traditional institutions and the community to preserve Natoni culture. (3) Creative initiatives by the Nunuanah Village government and traditional institutions stimulate the community's desire to maintain Natoni cultural practices through cultural festivals and competitions. Based on the above analysis, the author concludes that community participation in preserving Natoni culture in Nunuanah Village, Amfoang Timur District, Kupang Regency, is proceeding well. This is attributed to the efforts to raise awareness, collective planning, and the stimulation of cultural creativity. Therefore, there are several recommendations for the village government and traditional leaders in Nunuanah Village. Based on the conclusions above, this research will provide recommendations to various stakeholders regarding areas deemed in need of improvement in the preservation of Natoni culture by the Timor community in Nunuanah Village.
