Abstract
This research aimed to know the effect of OpenEndedProblem Based Learning Mathematics in Improving Mathematical Creative Thinking Ability at subsection Linear Equation System of Two Variables on 8th grade students at SMP N 3 Rote Barat Laut. The type of the research is quantitative with pre experimental design. The experiment used was one group pretestposttest design. This research was done on the VIII B Class of SMP N 3 Rote Barat Laut which consists of 29 students, selected from among 4 existed classes. The type of data in this research was premier data which was collected using tests. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 22 program. Data analysis technique used was tTest and NGain test. Results showed that ������= 21.967 and ������= 2.048 at a significant level 5% which means that ������= 21.967 > 2.048 = ������. Therefore, �� was refused and �� was accepted. Hence a conclusion could be drawn that there was a significant effect in using OpenEndedProblem Based Learning Mathematics in Mathematical Creative Thinking Ability. To see the raising of students’ mathematical creative thinking ability, the Ngain formula was used and it resulted the average of Ngain test 0.55299 which was categorized as a medium category. Hence, there can be drawn the conclusion that there was significant raising of students mathematical creative thinking ability.
